Two postdoctoral positions in Norwich, Deadline: 21 Jul 2020

Two postdoctoral positions in large cardinals and the axiom of choice, Norwich (England), Deadline: 21 Jul 2020

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions to work
with Dr Asaf Karagila at the University of East Anglia on the project
“Understanding the axioms: the interactions of the Axiom of Choice with
large cardinal axioms” funded by UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship
MR/T021705/1.

The project aims to better understand the tools currently missing for
consistency results related to large cardinals without the axiom of
choice. Specifically, improving upon the basic tools for lifting
elementary embeddings to symmetric extensions, and the iterations thereof.
Successful candidates will have (or be closed to submitting) a PhD in a
relevant area of mathematics, most likely set theory, although not
necessarily with focus on results concerning large cardinals or the axiom
of choice. For any questions about the posts or the research project,
please contact Dr Asaf Karagila, a.karagila@uea.ac.uk

Applicants should have a relevant PhD (or be about to obtain) or
equivalent professional experience in the research area and be able to
fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.

These full time posts are available from 15 September 2020 or as soon as
possible thereafter. The positions are initially for a fixed term of 24 months
initially but may be extended for upto 21 additional months.

The School is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome all applicants,
regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion or
sexual orientation. All appointments are made on merit. Our policies and

Postdoc opportunity in Paris

The Paris Region Fellowship Programme (ParisRegionFP) is an EU co-funded Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) in the frame of European Commissions H2020 programme that will strengthen the research capacity and international influence of the Paris Region, in France. The two main challenges of the 5-year programme starting in January 2021 are to :

  • Recruit a total of 52 international leaders of all nationalities at post-doctoral positions in research and innovation, covering a large panel of disciplines
  • Provide intersectoral mobility, specifically created professional training and career development measures for these experienced researchers

The first call with a deadline in October, 21st, 2020 will recruit 26 researchers for 2-year post-doctoral fellowships. The researchers will design and implement their original research project in a first-class research group of their choice belonging preferably to one of the 13 “Domain of Major Interest” (DMI) labels endorsed by the Paris Region. The DMIs are key research sectors on which the Paris Region focuses policy support and investments to strengthen its international attractiveness and intersectoral mobility. Mathematics is one of the 13 DMIs .
